When is a REBLO ripe?

The best indicator of ripeness and sweetness is skin colour. A papaya will ripen when picked (similar to a banana) getting sweeter and a juicier, creamier flesh as the skin yellows. All Reblo are hand harvested on a weekly basis – we pick them mainly green but they must have a yellow tinge as this confirms that they are mature and will definitely sweeten as they ripen.

The best way to select a Reblo of the fruit display is to look for one that is ready to eat, see chart below, check that there are no bruises and that your fruit looks fresh and healthy – if it is still in the protective sock take it to protect the skin as Reblo are a delicate fruit which can bruise without gentle care.
